The position involves assisting the Boat Captain with all aspects of marine vessel operation, focusing on deck maintenance, safety, and guest comfort. The position also involves cleaning the vessel's exterior, handling mooring lines during docking, operating deck equipment, monitoring safety equipment, participating in safety drills, and providing assistance with navigation as directed by the Boat Captain.
Position responsibilities:
1. Greeting and assisting all customers.
2. Monitor tour group activities to ensure compliance with safety regulations and provide aid in emergencies, such as administering first aid or directing emergency evacuations, and communicate with company officers and the Safety & Health Officer.
3. Rescue distressed people using rescue techniques and equipment.
4. Contact emergency medical personnel in cases of serious injury.
5. Examine injured people and administer first aid or cardiopulmonary resuscitation if necessary, using available medical supplies and equipment.
6. Instruct participants in swimming or other recreational activities and provide safety precaution information.
7. Operate underwater recovery units.
8. Ensure the safe use of equipment, such as life jackets and jet skis.
9. Participate in recreational demonstrations to entertain resort guests.
10. Assist guests and Tour Guides with preparing for, implementing and breaking down after activity.
11. Address customer queries regarding optional tours and other onshore/island and water activities.
12. Provide directions and relevant information to customers.
13. Communicate in foreign languages with visitors.
14. Assist in safe boarding and disembarking of passengers.
15. Handle mooring lines when docking the vessel.
16. Maintain daily pre-and-post cruise checklists.
17. Communicating maintenance and supply needs to the Boat Captain or appropriate departments.
18. Understand procedures for Man Overboard, Fire at Sea and Abandon Ship.
19. Participating in USCG required training drills.
20. Ensure proper set-up for each cruise.
21. General maintenance that includes cleaning, painting and washing the marine vessels.
22. Act as lookout during inclement weather.
23. Keep an accurate passenger count.
24. Comply with all federal, state, and local boating laws.
25. Keep informed of shut-down and emergency evacuation procedures.
26. Serve as liaison between Adventure Guides, Customer Service Specialists, Lifeguards, Deckhands, Boat Mechanics, and Boat Captains.
27. Contacts emergency medical personnel in cases of serious injury.
28. Perform any other assigned tasks or duties.
